Who is Travis Storro?

Travis began his career in October 2000 refurbishing military-surplus HH-43 “Huskie” helicopters to be used for logging and firefighting. He earned his Airframe and Powerplant license in 2003, and attended the K-Max factory maintenance course in 2005. Working as a field mechanic on both the Huskie and K-Max, Travis gained experience in  all aspects of utility helicopter operations including logging, firefighting, powerline/utility construction, and aerial crane services.

In 2007, Travis moved to Hillsboro, Oregon to pursue his dream of flying helicopters. Gaining experience in the employ of Hillsboro Aviation, the opportunities to learn included Part 135 maintenance and program management, government contracting, and operations management. He also achieved a Commercial Rotorcraft/Helicopter rating and Certified Flight Instructor license which remain current.

In 2010, Travis moved back to Sandpoint, Idaho and accepted the position of Director of Maintenance for a single helicopter utility operator. Since 2010, Travis has been an instrumental part of achieving FAA approval for:

  • Part 145 Repair Station Certification
  • Part 135 Air Carrier Certification
  • Obtaining a Restricted Category Type Certificate (UH-60)
  • Obtaining multiple Supplemental Type Certificates
  • Establishing an FAA-approved Parts Manufacturing Program
  • Obtaining FAA-approval for multiple aircraft modifications including structural, electrical, performance supplements, and avionics installations.
Now as the Managing Member of Gale Solutions, LLC, Travis is using his experience, as well as his network of industry professionals (DER’s, DAR’s, Certification Engineers) to benefit the aviation industry as a whole. He is currently the Chairman of the Helicopter Association International Restricted and Experimental Category Working Group, and serves on other FAA working groups on behalf of the rotorcraft industry. He and his beautiful wife Lindsey live near Sandpoint, Idaho and they have 4 children.
